Lauren’s Adventure – Camino de Santiago de Compostela (Introduction)

For as long as I have known her, Lauren has been speaking of her dream to walk the Camino do Santiago de Compstela. The Camino is a famous pilgrimage route that runs across Europe and terminates in Santiago, Spain for the feast of Saint James.

After some recent upheavals in her professional life, Lauren decided that now was the time. She packed a backpack, put on her walking shoes, and left for Spain on Sunday, May 5. That’s right – Lauren is in Spain right now, walking across the country.

Lauren’s route will take her from Pamplona in northeastern Spain to Santiago in the northwest, a walk of approximately 440 miles! She’ll walk through fields, hills, forests, historic towns, and all the beautiful landscape of Spain. The journey will likely take around 4 weeks, so probably all of May.

I’ll be updating my blog regularly so that we can all follow along with Lauren’s journey.

I’m making a Google Map to track her route. Check it out here:

If you want to learn more about the pilgrimage, there are lots of great websites. Here’s the link to the wikipedia page: Wikipedia. As I read more, I’ll update this blog with good links.

I know that your support, your faith, and your well wishes have truly meant a great deal to Lauren as she was getting ready to leave on her journey. Thank you so much. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and wish her well.

Hi, this Lauren’s Aunt Paula! I am rather challenged in posting, tweeting, etc. but I am so excited for Lauren if this has been a long dream of hers. I will enjoy the updates and is there a way we can send her a message also… if not, please do give her our love and we will be thinking of her along the road.

      Hi Paula,

Lauren has her phone, but international roaming charges are quite expensive. Her phone is set up to send and receive a limited number of international text messages, and she is using them to send me daily updates. I will certainly pass along your love and thoughts!

      Shannon
